Enjoyed an incredibly rewarding experience with The Promise of Passover, an Easter presentation of Christ’s ministry and the Passion week at the interim home of The Promise, Willow Park Baptist Church, just west of Ft. Worth. John directed, with Margaret as Jesus’ mother, Mary. The show’s current 85 member cast plus crew members have been excited to implement John’s vision, and the audience response has been tremendous. This portrayal of the life of Christ ran for over 3 decades, and sadly, the new owner of the Texas Amphitheater, originally built for the show, is not leasing to the organization anymore. BUT! John and the team have worked diligently to bring the same excitement, beauty and intimacy and feeling of “you were there” to the current venue, and audience response has been amazing. For 38 years, audiences have had a truly extraordinary experience at The Promise and John is grateful and humbled to be a part of it's ongoing ministry.

College bound voice/acting students have made decisions about college programs, and we are very proud of their hard work. Congratulations to former students who are graduating college, doing senior recitals, and looking forward to what’s next!

Shafer played John the Baptist in last year’s Promise of Passover, making it a whole family adventure and was also happy to perform in Water Tower Theatre’s concert version of ‘Phantom,’ enabling him to join Actor’s Equity Association. His band, The Collateral, signed with Gold Sounds Nashville to represent them for licensing for film/TV/radio, etc. Shafer has also been picked up to work with a licensing company as a solo creator. He continues to teach piano, voice, songwriting and consulting on music production. He also plays solo gigs at venues in D/FW including The Library Bar in the historic Melrose Hotel in Dallas, and Amore Italian in The Colony, among others, and writing, producing, and providing instrumental and vocal tracks for other artists and companies.
